Abstract
Fuel is added to a horizontal combustion chamber via a feed shaft, which contains a pin glowing red hot positioned close to the rear end wall of the shaft near the base of the chamber. Some combustion air is introduced into the chamber close to the pin, some primary combustion air is introduced through the bottom of the chamber close to the rear end wall of the shaft, and some secondary combustion air is introduced through the bottom and entrance of the chamber further away from the shaft. An air outlet is present to keep the fuel supply pipe cool.
