Abstract

A start valve supplies lubricating fluid directly to the axial seal for the screw drive shaft on the high pressure side of the pump. - The pump contains a drive screw rotated by a shaft, which cooperates with one or more slave screws inside a pump housing (1) with low and high pressure sides. The two screws form a seal against each other and also against the pump housing so that as they rotate a fluid is allowed to flow in the axial direction of the screws. During pump operation the fluid lubricates an axial seal for the drive shaft where it exits the pump housing on the high pressure side. A start valve (41) supplies fluid from the high pressure side of the machine directly to the axial seal.
