Abstract

A method for machining a profiled rod (10) with a waist section (15) protruding from a large flange section, includes a first step for rolling a piece of material including a flange and waist section in order for the waist section to be widened. In a second step the length edge region of the waist section facing away from the flange is machined by cutting it, in order to achieve greater tolerances in this region. Also claimed are (a) profiled rod made by this method, and (b) a machine for carrying out this method, comprising a stand (12) which supports a cutting tool (44) and control and feed devices (14, 22) for the rod.
