Abstract

A method of preparing a hydrophobic plate, particularly for a Ni-H cell, comprises coating a plate with hydrophobic resin dispersion such as a fluoro-based resin, and drying the coated plate. This decreases the internal pressure of a cell, thereby increasing its lifetime. The plate is preferably coated by dipping which makes it easy to prepare a hydrophobic plate, when compared with a method of spraying powder. Moreover, dust is not scattered, and the amount of fluoro-based resin coated on the plate can be easily controlled by controlling the concentration of the dispersion aqueous solution.
