Abstract

The system for providing advanced voice services to subscribers of a telecommunications network has a local switch connected to the telecommunications network and provides two-way communication between the subscribers and the network. A database of subscriber services is connected to the local switch. An intelligent peripheral is connected to the database and the local switch. The peripheral processes voice information and DTMF digits received from the switch in response to instructions from the database. The subscriber services are retrieved from the database using a call setup protocol. The services are provided to the switch. The processed voice information and DTMF signals are retrieved from the intelligent peripheral and provided to the switch.
