Abstract

Packaging items, preferably for liquids, are provided with the friction-increasing coating in order to aid gripping of the items. The coating is sprayed onto the packaging as it passes through a chamber or tunnel (1). The spray chamber contains a spraying zone (Z) surrounded by barrier zones (Y). Air containing entrained coating material and solvent is sucked out of the spraying zone, then purified to remove coating material and then returned to the chamber in a solvent-saturated state in order to form curtains of air between the two zones, as well as to form a solvent-containing or saturated environment within the barrier zones.
