Abstract

An absorbent product (1) such as a nappy or incontinence pad has an elongated shape with two length direction side edges (21, 22), two width direction end edges (24, 25), a rear section (4), front section (7) and intermediate section (10). The product contains an absorbent inlay (12) enclosed between an outer liquid-tight cover layer (14) and an inner liquid-permeable cover layer (17) in contact with the skin of the person wearing it. Fastener tabs (27, 28) are provided on the outside of the product on either length edge close to one of the width edges. Wings (51, 52) are provided on either side of a central axis (26) extending through the product in the length direction between the two width edges. The wings have a first edge (55, 56) secured to the product and a second free edge (58, 59). The wings can be unfolded from the liquid-permeable cover layer.Each wing has a fastener tab (63, 64) on the inside for securing it around the wearer`s thigh. The same fastener is also used to lift the wing when it is being unfolded.
