Abstract

The device comprises a conveyor for transporting the material (19) through a device (20) which generates microwaves (21) and directs them against the material. The conveyor follows an essentially vertical path over horizontal, microwave transparent supports (13). A device (12) at one end of the conveyor delivers the material as a spread out layer onto the supports. - At the other end of the conveyor a device (15) is used to remove material. The microwave generating device is located between the two ends of the conveyor and directs microwaves against the material on the nearest support in a direction essentially parallel to the machine direction of the conveyor.
