Abstract
The compressed air source (2) drives air into the pipe conduit (1). An air pressure sensor (3) is connected to the pipe conduit and through its monitored pressure indicates the fluid level (Nv) in the well (7) when the air wholly fills the pipe conduit. Air can flow out into the fluid mass through the mouth (48) of the pipe conduit. A check valve (21) is located between the pressure source and the conduit and a device (22) is provided for cutting off the pressure source from the pipe conduit after a level measuring operation. A further device (4) records the result of a level measurement operation. At a selected time point after a level measurement operation, devices monitor the lowest air pressure in the pipe conduit, in order to calculate the lowest fluid level in the well after the last level measurement operation.
