Abstract

The control unit (10) responds to signals from sensors of engine operating conditions (12-14), engine speed (22), battery voltage (26) and combustion air intake (30). Amplifying and/or differentiating and integrating stages (52,54) produce a control signal for the throttle flap (34). The speed and load signals are also related to a stored characteristic (98) used in production of a control signal for the ignition timing (36). Preferably a desired idling speed is worked out by a set-point device (38) containing characteristics, tables or computation programs.
