Abstract

A label for marking and remote detection of objects has at least one resonant circuit (10) with an inductive means (12), at least one capacitive means (14) and at least one magnetic means (16), which is inductively coupled to the inductive means. The resonant circuit may be excited to resonate at a given resonant frequency. The permeability of the magnetic means is controllable through a heterogeneous magnetic bias field, wherein also the resonant frequency of the resonant circuit is controllable. The label has a plurality of magnetic elements (20) of a first type (A), which constitute the magnetic means (16) and the permeability of which, within certain limits, decreases with increasing magnetic bias field, and a plurality of magnetic elements (24; 26) of a second type (B), the permeability of which decreases more slowly with increasing magnetic bias field, as compared to the elements (20) of the first type.
