Abstract

In one end of the optic fibre (2) a pressure sensor component (3) is located, the optical reflectance of which is a monotonous function of an applied hydrostatic pressure within a defined pressure interval. At least one fluorescent material (4), e.g. glass doped with ions of a rare soil type metal, is placed in optical connection with the optic fiber and in thermic connection with the pressure sensor component (3), whereby the optical time constant for the fluorescence is a monotonous function of the temperature. At least one light detector (5) is placed in connection with the optic fibre for detection of light reflected from the pressure sensor component. At least one further light detector (6) is also placed in connection with the optic fibre for detection of fluorescent light from the fluorescent material (4). At least one electronic unit (7) drives the light source (1) and analyses the signals from the light detectors (5,6).
