Abstract

A method for increasing the dry substance content of partially dewatered material (3), especially lignocellulosic material - comprises pressing the material against a liquid absorbent endless felt or wire (7) using press rolls (8-14) and then carrying the felt or wire through nips between a different set of press rolls (17-19) in order to expel absorbed liquid from the fabric. The machine used in this method is also claimed, containing a perforated support and wire (4) driven by rolls (5,6) for transporting the material. The liquid absorbent felt or wire is urged against the material carried on this support wire.
