Abstract

The testing device includes components for feed-in and storage of information in the form of data and values relating to different types of endoscopes. A micro-processor compares the light received by the light-receiving unit with earlier stored information for the actual type of endoscope. Information is stored in a memory. The light-emitting unit (5) is formed so that the emitted light is automatically matched to the actual endoscope type through control signals from the micro-processor based on information relating to the actual endoscope light conductor type, and/or light conductor dimension, and/or picture opening and/or picture angle, etc. The light-emitting unit emits light at a strength controlled by the micro-processor. The light-receiving unit (6) incorporates a light meter which measures the received light strength. The micro-processor compares the received light strength with a previously stored limit value.
