Abstract

The present invention relates to a device for vertical positioning of furniture, comprising at least one support element with two mutually displaceable posts being formed by telescopic tubes or similar profiles, having a first post receivable internally within a second post. According to the invention, an actuating member which forms a lever and which is pivotally journalled inside the first post. A latch mechanism (13) for securing the two posts (8, 9) in an adjusted vertical position is adapted to act between said actuating member (11) and the second post (9). An operating member (14) is arranged on the lever (11) at the end (11B) which is distant from the latch mechanism. The actuating member (11) is compulsorily influenced to be biased into a latched position (S), wherein the latch mechanism (13) cooperates between the two posts (8, 9) and maintains the piece of furniture in its vertically adjusted position, but is manually operable to pivot to a releasing position in which the two posts (8, 9) are free to move reciprocally into a desired vertical level for the piece of furniture.
