Abstract

The primary conductor (1) incorporates an insulating casing (6) enclosing a conducting component (5) with oblong cross-section. The conducting component in cross-section has a length which is twice its width. It consists of two adjacently located parallel conducting units, each of which has a cross-section which is ring-shaped. It is made of aluminium. The material in the protective casing (4) is porcelain, epoxy or polymer and the insulating casing comprises a number of paper and aluminium layers. The primary conductor two parts (1a, 1b) are embedded in quartz sand (7) in casings (3, 4). For insulation and cooling the transformer is filled with oil. The oil box (8) for oil expansion and extra cooling is connected to the protective casing (4) at its upper end.
