Abstract

A stand is disclosed for supporting, in a central cavity (8), a substantially vertical, central column (1) for a chair or the like, comprising at least three, preferably five supporting legs (2). Each supporting leg is formed at one end like a coupling element (3), the coupling elements being so designed, that they coupled together form a central body (4), supporting said column (1). The stand is especially characterized in that the locking means (5, 6, 17-26) in a cross section perpendicular to the central symmetry axis of the stand, show the form of figures of such a design, that the radially seen outer limiting surface of the second locking means (6) when loading the stand, does not give rise to any radially outwardly directed force upon the corresponding surface of the first locking means (5).
