Abstract

The gas discharge tube (1) and inductor (2) are parallel-coupled with a capacitor (3) for phase compensation. The capacitor is series-coupled with another inductor, which together with the capacitor forms a series resonance circuit tuned to an overtone current with the ordinal number p, where 2 is less than p is less then 3. For basic tones, the transformer has a series inductance and there is one fitting per phase with its inductances and capacitances. For an equivalent single phase scheme for third tones, the discharge tube acts as an overtone current generator for voltage, which ends out an overtone current through series inductor inductances to a parallel oscillation circuit comprising capacitor capacitances and the feed transformer series inductance. The current in the oscillation circuit can be considerably greater than the current through the discharge tube.
