Abstract

Logs (5) are delivered to rotating rolls (1-3), between which water rises up to flow against the logs in a direction opposite to the log travelling direction. The water then flows back down between the rolls, taking the removed bark (6) with it. A method for hydromechanically stripping bark from logs by passing them through a debarking machine in a cleaning station, and then removing the pieces of bark, comprises the use of rotating bodies for receiving the logs still with the bark on, and rotating the bodies so that water rises up between them and flows against the logs in a direction opposite to the travelling direction of the logs. The water then flows back down between the bodies, taking the removed pieces of bark with it. An Independent claim is also included for the debarking machine, containing parallel, horizontal rolls with cooperating fittings (9, 10) for channelling away the water and stripped bark.
