Multipart appts. for the thermal insulation of a conical compost vessel tapered upwards from its base, comprises at least two ring-shaped extruded polyethylene (or similar material) insulation bodies which surround the vessel. The lower ring in each pair overlaps the upper ring in the adjacent pair, and the height of the lowest ring is greater than the outlet opening for the vessel.
