Abstract

The waveguide system comprises a cavity (1) for food to be cooked with a pair of microwave feed openings formed in one wall. A magnetron (7) has an antenna and is located between the microwave feed openings (6a and 6b) in a spaced apart relationship with the wall and generates microwaves with a frequency of lambda g. A waveguide covers the openings and supports the magnetron while guiding the microwave through the feed openings into the cavity. It has a short circuited surface which is spaced apart from the antenna by a distance of 'lambda g /4' and is parallel to the antenna.
