Abstract

The illumination and extinguishing of the background lighting (20) behind the picture screen (14) are controllable in time intervals with such frequency that the required short picture exposure times are obtained. The screen is coupled to a computer (12) which according to a programme generates the pictures for presentation on the screen (14). - The control of background lighting illumination and extinguishing occurs via the computer (12). The background lighting (20) is by cold cathode tube or electro-fluorescent plates.
