Abstract
The optical cable has fibre conductors arranged in bands which are held together by bodies within the cable. The bands during prodn. are given an identity which is unique in relation to the others. The bands (3, 4, 5) are held together by retainers (9, 10, 11) so that they are arranged in an easily identifiable sequence. - The bands are held together at their respective central parts (3a, 4a, 5a, 4b) by the retainers (9, 10, 11) which extend in essentially the same direction (19) of the bands arranged radially one after the other in the cable, the inner band (5) is placed in sequence which is identifiable in relation to the other bands. The next innermost band (4) is placed so that it is easily identifiable in relation to the other bands, and so on. The bands held together in the cable are given the actual identification sequence where one of the outer bands receives a first given identified position, the other band in the row receives another position, and so on.
