Abstract

Arrangement for performing so-called hyperthermia in a body cavity or body channel, comprising a distal portion 3 intended to be introduced into the said body part, comprising a central heat-emitting element 19, an elongate housing 29 surrounding the latter, and a flexible envelope 37 surrounding the housing in a liquid- tight manner, members 13, 15 for supplying energy to the heat-emitting element 19 and an inlet channel 35 acting in the axial direction in the proximal part of the housing, as well as an outlet 33; 69; 87 for supplying a heat-absorbing medium under pressure for expansion of the flexible envelope 37 in order to fill the body cavity, characterized by an inlet 31; 67; 85 for the medium arranged in the housing, on the other side of the element 19 relative to the said outlet, and also members for the flow of the medium in an internal circuit from the space between the housing 29 and the surrounding flexible envelope 37, through the housing 29 via the said inlet 31 and outlet 33 for taking up heat, and through the space between the housing 29 and the envelope 37 for giving off heat. <IMAGE>
