Abstract

A method for measuring the solid volume of goods in the form of partial loads of loads of for instance timber logs transported on load vehicles comprises the following steps: the goods (13) the volume of which is to be measured is supplied to a goods receiving means (4), the goods receiving means and a casing means (11) provided with an opening (12) are brought to move with respect to each other so that the goods receiving means with the goods moves into the casing means through the opening thereof, the casing means and the sealing means (17) are brought to move with respect to each other so that they come to bear against each other and together delimit a closed compartment gas-tightly sealed against the ambient atmosphere and surrounding the goods receiving means, the volume and/or the pressure of the gas in the closed compartment is (are) varied and the quantity (-ies) varied is (are) measured and the volume of the goods is calculated on the bases thereof.
