Abstract

The invention relates to an optical module system for light transmission. The system is made up of series- connected holders 1, 5 for optical or electro-optical components. The modules are held together by magnetic forces 3 and can be rotated in relation to one another by suitably adapted friction between the bearing surfaces 12. The holders can have different size and apertures and some are provided with flanges 4 and can be movable about an axis 2 in the ray path of the light, while other holders are fixed 5. The module system can be used in the construction of compact optical equipment, for example consisting of modulators, polarizers and filters, which are to be capable of being connected to other apparatus or systems 7, 8, at the same time as it is important to be capable of providing screening from interfering stray light. Some holders can be provided with recesses 6 so that various components can be exchanged easily. <IMAGE>
