Abstract

A tooth implant comprises (A) a part or region which comes into contact with cortical bones (Substantia corticalis sive compacta) which has surface irregularities and (B) a part which comes into contact with the Substantia spongiosa adjoining part (A) having a surface of a material which exhibits biological activity, whereby part (A) contacts the cortical bones of the jawbone when the implant is implanted in the jawbone and part (B) is situated such that it is in contact with the Substantia spongiosa of the jawbone. USE/ADVANTAGE - The implants for artificial tooth roots penetrate both the hard outer part and the soft inner part of the jawbone. The configuration of part (A) ensures strong initial fixing of the implant in the cortical bone and the biologically activity of part (B) causes this part to become firmly anchored into the soft inner part, so that the implant becomes firmly and securely fixed into the bone and remains stable.
