Abstract

A framing device for a plate 1, such as a mirror glass, has a relatively deep outer frame 2, having a top piece 2a and a bottom piece 2b, and a passepartout-like inner frame 3, which is fixed to the outer frame 2 inside the latter and the distance a of which to the rear side of the outer frame is considerably greater than its distance b to the front side of the outer frame. The distance between the top piece 2a and the bottom piece 2b is less than the height of the plate 1. Two upper grooves 4,5 for alternative reception of the upper edge of the plate 1 are configured in the top piece 2a on either side of the inner frame 3 adjacent to this. Two lower grooves 4',5' for alternative reception of the lower edge of the plate 1 are configured in the bottom piece 2b directly in front of the upper grooves 4,5.
