Abstract

The electrical lighting unit of the type used to indicate exit points from a building is coupled in series with an arrangement that reduces the effective operating voltage to increase operational life. In one version a diode (2) is placed in series with the lighting unit (1) and provides half wave rectification to reduce the voltage. Other versions replace the diode with an inductance to produce a voltage drop or a trial/thyristor to rectify the supply. ADVANTAGE - Reduces operating voltage to improve operational life.
