Abstract

During the erosion of material from the surface of workpieces by a laser beam to suit a given contour, specially in the mfr. of grooved dandy rolls for paper machines, the laser beam evaporates or fuses some of the material. This material is removed from the range of the contour by a gas jet. The latter is applied pref. during the pauses between the active pulses of the laser beam. ADVANTAGE - This represents a method of producing such a roller surface in one simple operational stage.
