Abstract

A brake arrangement for an ammunition unit comprises a brake chute 6 which can be launched by means of a pyrotechnic launching charge 11. The cords of the brake chute are connected to an attachment which comprises a first part 17 and a second part 18. The latter part bears connection members for the cords of the brake chute. The first and second parts are, in an initial position, unlocked in relation to one another. Locking members 27, 28 are arranged so that, on normal triggering of the brake arrangement, the first and second attachment parts are locked to one another. The attachment parts are then locked to the structure or body of the unit and the brake chute can effect braking of the ammunition unit. The locking members are also arranged so that, in the event of accidental triggering of the chute, the first and second attachment parts remain unlocked in relation to one another. The brake chute can thus come away freely from the ammunition unit without exerting any braking action on it. <IMAGE>
