The invention concerns a compact air-insulated medium voltage switchboard where the devices 21,22,23 controlling the fields are arranged in connection with components with unsuitable electrode form, for example inverse contacts 11,12,13. Simple and cheap devices controlling the fields can be manufactured from a plastic- insulated annealed copper pipe 17 which is curved with a suitable radius so that it surrounds the said components.
