Abstract

A tool for the application of screws 3, which screws serve to fix a material layer 1 relative to the base, the tool has two parts 12, 13 which can move axially relative to each other, the first 12 of which can be rotated and incorporates a means of rotation-fast connection with a screw. The second part 13 has a holding device 19 for bearing against the material layer. The tool has a locking device 20 which, in an active position, prevents the first part 12, and thereby its attached screw 3, moving axially relative to the second part in the direction of the material layer when the second part's 13 holding device 19 bears against the material layer, while in an inactive position allows the first part 12 and its attached screw 3 to move axially relative to the second part.
