Abstract

Lifting apparatus equipped with suction devices in the form of suction plates and comprising a framework of two mutually parallel, longitudinally extending frame beams and two mutually parallel transverse frame beams, the frame beams (6) being displaceably arranged in relation to the longitudinally extending beams in a direction parallel therewith. Lifting arms (7) are attached to the carrier beams (6), each lifting arm carrying two suction plates (1) through the intermediary of attachment devices. The invention is characterized in that two screw-threaded first setting screws (20, 21) extend parallel with the longitudinally extending beams (2, 3), these setting screws (20, 21) being connected to each of the displaceable carrier beams (6) by means of nut devices (22, 23). The setting screws (20, 21) present a number of screw-threaded regions (26, 37), the number of regions being equal to the number of carrier beams (6). The screw threads in respective regions (26, 37) have a pitch and a rotational direction such that when the setting screws are rotated, the carrier beams (6) will be displaced while the mutual distance between adjacent plates (1), seen in a direction parallel with the setting screws (20, 21), will remain the same. The apparatus also includes devices for moving the suction plates towards and away from one another along a lifting arm.
