Abstract
A gas burner is intended for heating a road coating or skin and is provided with a rectangular, box-shaped burner housing (1) with an inlet pipe (2) for air and gas, the pipe being fitted with a burner sock (4). The inlet pipe (2) extends with the burner sock (4) through a reflector (5) connected to the housing (1), the reflector being disposed in spaced-apart relationship from a wind shield (7) produced of mesh, such that a combustion space is formed between the reflector (5) and the wind shield (7). In order to permit replacement of such parts as may readily be heat-fatigued and burnt out, and for increasing overall efficiency, the burner is provided, between the burner housing (1) and the edges of the reflector (5) and the wind shield (7), with a skirt (6). Furthermore, the reflector (5) is cupped and is secured partly in the skirt and partly in the housing (1) in a region in the proximity of the inlet pipe (2). The reflector has a number of flutes (15) compensating for thermal expansions in the material, the flutes extending between the skirt (6) and the inlet pipe (2).
