Abstract

The indicator unit used is pref. connected to the vehicle speedometer, and closes and/or breaks a power circuit as soon as the vehicle momentary speed exceeds or is below a flexible limit. The characteristic signals necessary for the monitoring process are different within differing speed ranges, and signal lamps on the vehicle show ocularly a characteristic colour for each available speed range changing colour when the momentary speed passes the fixable speed limit. Along a section of road which has one and the same permitted speed are regularly repeated road and speed markings, each of which has a colour characteristic for the road section highest permitted speed. These colours are chosen the same as those of the signal lamps in the vehicle, and illuminate for a momentary speed which is less than the highest permitted speed.
