Abstract
The base plate incorporates an anodic part and a cathodic part, and the electrodes are so positioned that the plates from adjacent electrodes are interleaved. A casing of anodic active material or with anodic active coating is placed around the edge of the base plate cathodic part but insulated from it, and in good metallic contact with the anode plates, with at least two of the edges sides being covered. The casing is of Ti, and the distance between it and the base plate edge is identical to that between the interleaved electrodes i.e. 0.5-15 mm.. The base plate incorporates a titanium plate on its anode functioning side, whilst on its cathode functioning side it has a plate of iron or steel.
