Abstract
The olefins may also be halide-substd., and the catalyst also produces total combustion of hydrocarbons in the presence of atmos. contg. oxygen, the oxidn. of CO to CO2 in the presence of the same atmosphere, the oxidn. of olefins, pref. ethylene and propylene to epoxides,. Further possible action of the catalyst is the redn. of nitrous oxides to nitrogen in the presence of atmosphere contg. ammonia and oxygen. The compsn. of the catalyst is at AB2C306+delta in which O is less than or equal to delta is less than or equal to 1. A is Y, any of the rare earth metals (57 La - 71 Lu) or Bi, or mixtures of them. B is Ba, Ci or Sr or mixtures of them, C is Ca, Ni, or Co, or mixtures of them, and O is oxygen. The catalyst is introduced on a carrier which is Al203, SiO2, TiO2 or ZrO2.
