Abstract

Induction hotplate comprising a supporting surface 11 for a cooking utensil 12 and a device 13 arranged below the supporting surface to generate a magnetic field which drives a magnetic flux through the cooking utensil. The field-generating device 13 comprises at least two coils 15 which have a form and arrangement such that at one field point which is at a distance from the hotplate, the contributions from the different coils will essentially balance each other out. <IMAGE>
