Abstract

A magnetic field-sensitive indicator (4) is fitted in the plane of measurement coils (2, 3) within the unknown magnetic field, and provides an electrical output signal corresp. to the unknown induction of the field for conversion (16) to a resonance frequency. A logic circuit (10), connected to the integrator (8), effects rough adjustment of the frequency generator (7) to a basic frequency which is close to but differs from the detected resonance frequency,and which is selected having regard for the measured induction value of the indicator. The logic circuit, after the frequency generator has been locked on to the resonance frequency, periodically monitors the output signal of the magnetic field-sensitive indicator (4). It releases the staged alteration by the integrator of the frequency generator RF frequency only if the indicator output signal shows that the unknown magnetic field has altered from that of the previous period.
