Abstract

A number of cards are used, each provided with a stored code, and a card reader has a device for reading the code in a card, second device for comparison of a read code with a number of codes stored previously in the reader, and third device which when there is coincidence between the read and stored codes produces a primary signal to activate equipment. Fourth . produces a signal when there is agreement between a read code and another of the earlier stored codes. This signal activates fifth appts. in the card reader in such a way that the read code is destroyed or altered as far as its code content is concerned. The first signal activates a door or grid for free passage, and a first category card is provided with codes for unlimited passages, whilst a second category card has codes permitting only one passage.
