Abstract

A method for debarking treetrunks by means of an annular debarking apparatus is proposed, in which, in a known manner, the pressing force of the peeling tools against the trunk can be arbitrarily changed in operation and, with running rotor, the peeling tools can also be shifted into an open position out of contact with the trunk. The method is characterised in that the controlling of the pressing force and the opening of the tools are effected solely via the arbitrarily changeable rotational speed of the rotor, using the movement-effective mass of the peeling tools, which counteracts an elastic force stressing the peeling tools, in a known manner, permanently into the closed position. The elastic force here remains unchanged from outside during the operation of the annular debarking apparatus. The particular advantage of the method according to the invention consists in that it can be carried out with a high degree of operational reliability and considerably less constructional expense on the part of the annular debarking apparatus compared with the known methods which allow arbitrary control of the pressing force of the peeling tools and shifting thereof into an open position with running rotor. Furthermore, an annular debarking apparatus for carrying out the method according to the invention is proposed, which is characterised in that the rotor drive 5,6,7 for driving the rotor 4 is designed with arbitrarily changeable rotational speed. <IMAGE>
