Abstract

The invention relates to a device for turning a log, especially for so-called field saws or equivalent which comprise at least one circular saw or equivalent and a table 4 which is displaceable past the blade 2 of the said circular saw and upon which the log rests parallel with the blade during sawing, and which device 1 comprises at least one pair of members disposed directly opposite each other on both sides of the table, which members are supported on a frame or a floor or the like and are joined to a drive mechanism. According to the invention, the said members are arm-shaped members 10,11, which can be displaced by means of a first drive mechanism 12,13 in the transverse direction relative to the longitudinal direction of the table 4 and of the log resting thereupon. The end 16 of the one arm-shaped member 10 has a sliding member provided with a friction surface, such as a toothed wheel or spiked wheel 14, which can be joined to a second drive mechanism 15 for setting the friction surface in motion. The end 17 of the second arm-shaped member 11 is provided with a stop face 18, the side profile of which is inclined in relation to a normal A-A to the table 4. The log can be rolled by means of the arm-shaped member 10 and the spiked wheel 14 in the lateral direction on the table 4, expediently between the members 10,11, and/or the log can be lifted at least partially from the table 4, whereupon the log can be turned into the desired position for feeding to the saw. <IMAGE>
