Abstract

Forming head for forming fibres on an endless wire. The head consists of a housing 4 which is delimited towards the bottom by a net 8 and comprises rotating wings for causing the fibres to spread over the surface of the net so that the fibres fall down uniformly on the endless wire 1 which is located under the net. Furthermore, a suction box 2 is located under the endless wire for creating a powerful current of air through the housing 4, the net 8 and the endless wire 1 in order to form the fibres on the endless wire. The mesh size of the net is non-uniform in the transverse direction in order to compensate for irregularities in the thickness of the material which is formed on the endless wire. The suction box 20 is provided with partitions 21, 24 which are perforated 25, 27 in order to constitute a mild transition. In addition, a stripper is located under the net for mechanically scraping off any fibres adhering to the net. The stripper expediently includes an antistatic brush. <IMAGE>
