Abstract
A process for detecting plant virus, in which plant sap is treated with a protein-decomposing enzyme for removal of endogenously bound biotin, and in which virus RNA from the plant sap is bound to a filter membrane and prehybridisation is carried out, whereupon virus RNA is hybridised by incubation of the membrane with biotin-labelled DNA which is homologous to RNA in the virus to be detected, the presence of the specific virus RNA becoming visually detectable through the occurrence of a colour after addition of a biotin-specific enzyme.
