Abstract

The casing comprises a sintered, porous pressed powder body made by the cold isostatic pressing of a powder eg steel powder. A suitable filler is introduced into the body before entering. After sintering the filler is at least partially collected in the pores and cavities of the body. For example the filling material can be a net of copper or an alloy embedded in the body. This subsequently melts and vapourises at elevated temp. introducing cavities which define weakness zones in the body. There determine splinter size.
