Abstract

The invention relates to a device for barking wooden logs in which the logs piled parallel on one another are caused both to rotate and to move to and fro in their longitudinal direction whilst at the same time undergoing simultaneous parallel displacement in the lateral direction and re-positioning within the log pile. This is achieved by the logs being fed into a fixed container provided with a flat base, an intake side 1 which is gently inclined towards the base, two flat, vertical end faces 2,3 and a discharge side 4 steeply inclined towards the base. The device is characterized in that the base of the container has at least one oblong section 6 which is movable in the vertical and longitudinal direction and which at its short ends is rotatably suspended from eccentric shafts 7, at least one of which is provided with a drive member 10 intended to cause each base section 6 to move in a path which, viewed from its long side, is substantially circular and in which the intended rotational axis is horizontal and perpendicular to the longitudinal direction of the logs 8. <IMAGE>
