Abstract

The lifting unit comprises of a ligting arm (2) which has a rotary movement activated by servo-controlled activators (3,4) to lift and lower heavy units. To permit unloading and loading of such heavy units, the frame (6) has two longitudinal parallel beams (7a,7b) and at least two transversal braces (8). These form a frame with an open format between the beams from the one end of the carriage (1), to a third of the carriage length.$A lifting head (38) is rotatably mounted on the lifting arm (2) and is activated via a link mechanism (35,37) by a servo unit (5) to adopt different angular positions in relation to the lifting arm. In this way, a load on the lifting head can be maintained in an unaltered angular position relatively to the ground during the angular movement of the lifting arm.$USE - To lift and lower heavy loads in conjunction with the servicing of heavy vehicles e.g. leaf spring assemblies.(1)
