Abstract

A U-shaped leaf spring or two flat leaf springs (C) is positioned along the long sides of the magazine, and may be compressed during loading, thus striving to press the transversely positioned cartridges to form a row so that they may be passed outwards through the magazine aperture. Without the spring arrangement, the cartridges would be pressed outwards against the internal sides of the magazine, and not proceed past the restrictor in the top of the magazine. - The magazine is formed so that loading and rifling can take place by the cartridges being pushed in and out through a semi-circular aperture in the magazine rear edge. In order to press downwards the underlying cartridge on loading, the guide edges (B) do not extend completely to the magazine rear edge. This means that a cartridge can be held above the magazine so that its front is above the rear end of the guide edges, then to be pressed straight downwards until it touches the bottom of the semi-circular outlet. Keeping the cartridge pressed downards, a loader can push it with the other hand forwards and slightly downwards so that it slides inwards beneath the guide edges.
