Abstract

A catalyst (I) for removing nitrogen oxides from flue gases comprises (a) a support, and (b) as catalytically active material an ultra-stable zeolite Y ion-exchanged with rare earth metals and/or combined with vanadium pentoxide. Flue gases are purified of nitrogen oxides by contact with catalyst (I) at 275-400 deg.C.
